Our Beliefs
What do we believe about teaching and learning?
Inquiry
“We can’t expect kids to be curious ‘on demand’. Passion, strong interest,
a desire to find out or learn to do something new or better… these are
the driving dispositions of personalized inquiry”
Kath Murdoch
What is inquiry learning and the process of inquiry?
What is the relationship between conceptual learning and inquiry?
How can we plan learning in connection to the inquiry process?
How can we provoke student curiosity and interest?
How do we put student’s ideas, theories, questions and interests at the forefront of our learning?
How do we move learning so that is it student focused?
What is the difference between an activity and an inquiry learning experience?
Agency
“The way kids learn to make good decisions is by making decisions, not by following directions.”
Alfie Kohn
What do we mean by agency?
What are ways we can promote agency in our schools?
How can we encourage more student decision making in our schools?
How can we open learning to provide students with choice in the what, where and how of their learning?
